In this next chapter of the Audrey (Peck) Varty Legacy event series, join Center of Movement Arts to learn some of London’s local history through the lens of dance. In the 1930s, Audrey Peck and her friends spent many evenings dancing the night away to the sounds of Big Bands. It was on such a night that she was swept off her feet by the dancing skills of her future husband. International Flash Mob Practice
International Flash Mob practices are taking place on June 9, 16, 23, 30 at the Polish Hall.
Time: 6:30-8pm instruction + practice/ social dancing until 9pm
Review sessions will be on Tuesday evenings in July and August
WCS London will be teaching and performing the International West Coast Swing Rally (Flashmob) this summer! This choreography is created in France by Olivier and Virinie Massart and performed in September all over the world.
Join us in the fun! We will teach the choreography in 4 classes in June and hold review and practice classes during the summer (included in the cost). Performance in late August/early September is encouraged but optional. Dates of the performance TBD.
Dates: June 9, 16, 23, 30 with review sessions on Tuesday evenings in July and August
Time: 6:30-8pm instruction + practice/ social dancing until 9pm; doors open at 6:15pm
We encourage you to register as a dance partnership (1 lead, 1 follow) but you may also register on your own and we will do our best to assign you a partner if you decide to perform. We will rotate in class to facilitate learning. BEGINNERS WELCOME!!

Kyle, a Canadian, and Melodie, from France, discovered West Coast Swing at 17 and 14, respectively. They both fell in love with the dance and each other on the dance floor. Now, with their backgrounds shaping their unique approach, they travel the world, sharing their knowledge and passion. Through their teaching, they make West Coast Swing accessible to all, fostering a vibrant global community. Join them on the dance floor to experience the magic for yourself!

A few WCS London folks went to Cleveland this past weekend on November 28, 2024 for a west coast swing and hustle event.
A few WCS London folks went to Cleveland this past weekend (starting November 28, 2024) for a west coast swing and hustle event. Trish and Schai competed in the Novice Jack-and-Jill competition and Schai placed 6th with Dario Peralta! Jess competed in Intermediate Jack-and-Jill (placing 1st alternate) and in Master’s (1st place with Michael Caro). Congratulations to all four dancers!
Workshops with Nelson Clarke
Nelson Clarke was introduced to Line Dancing by his grandmother in Cornwall, Ontario, when he was just 11 years old and took to it like a fish to water. He discovered West Coast Swing while on tour with a Line Team that performed across North America and never looked back. Known for his exceptional musicality and his success in competition as both a lead and follow in the All Star division, Nelson currently teaches private lessons and workshops and specializes in choreographing routines.

Steven James Advanced Workshop

As a professional dance instructor for 15 years, Steven James is certified in American Ballroom Smooth and Rhythm and is well known and sought after as a teacher in West Coast Swing and Hustle. Steven teaches a range of dance classes at the Joy of Dance Centre in downtown Toronto, including intermediate and introductory West Coast Swing drop-in classes on Wednesday evenings. Steven is known for the technical precision, sense of play, and generosity he brings to his dance, both as a teacher and on the social floor. An active competitor and performer in West Coast Swing and Hustle in Canada and the U.S., Steven performed in the Rising Star competition at the 2018 U.S. Open Swing Dance Championships with Shelley Saxena in Burbank, California. His exciting Hustle performances with Annie Lebedeva have been recognized with the prestigious 2023 Disco America Hall of Fame Award.

Workshop Description
This workshop will focus on advanced techniques to competently and safely lead and follow advanced patterns that require leverage and awareness of shared balance points through physical connection (rides, ducks, dips). Registration is limited to students who meet the following requirements:
You can confidently and competently lead/follow foundational patterns (pushes, passes,
whips).You have been dancing West Coast Swing for at least 2 years
You have completed Foundations, Foundations 2, and at least two sessions of Repertoire with WCS London (or commensurate training in another community)
You have strong understanding of connection technique in West Coast Swing and a working understanding of countering.
