Join us each summer to dance the International West Coast Swing Rally!

Watch West Coast Swing London perform last year’s flashmob!

What is the International WCS Rally?

Every summer, dancers Olivier and Virginie Massart have choreographed a new routine in their home country of France and shared it with the world. Starting the summer of 2026, they have passed the torch to Kevin & Nataliya Kane, and Michelle Kinkaid & Richard Kear who continue to make the vision of west coast swing enthusiasts all over the world dancing together a reality. West coast swing communities around the globe learn this dance and perform it to the public for free around September. West Coast Swing London (Ontario) has been participating in this annual global dance event since 2015. Scroll down to watch videos of our previous performances!

Why do you call the International WCS Rally a ‘flashmob’?

After learning the routine, we perform the International WCS Rally at a local landmark in the city. Past locations have included Covent Garden Market, Victoria Park and Ivey Park. This performance isn’t scheduled to the public, though - it’s a surprise! Those of us who are dancing will do our best to blend in with the crowd until the music starts and it’s time to dance!

Who should sign up for the International WCS Rally?

Everyone! This routine is designed for people familiar with west coast swing AND for those who have never done west coast swing (or any dance!) before. New dancers will get a taste of west coast swing and learn a routine. They can then choose to continue to learn west coast swing social dancing in our group classes. Experienced dancers will get the benefit of practicing their skills through repetition and discover new patterns. Many people return to learn and perform the new flashmob routine annually because it’s such a fun experience.

I want to learn the choreography, but I’m not sure if I want to perform.

We welcome new and experienced dancers alike to learn the choreography in group classes in June. The performance is optional.

When do you teach the choreography?

We will teach the choreography on Mondays in June. There will also be time to practice and social dance afterwards until 9:00pm. We will hold review/refresher classes in July and August, which are included in the cost. The 2026 Flashmob classes are scheduled for June 15, 22, and 29. We hope to see you there!

Do I Need a Partner?

We recommend that you sign up in a dance partnership, with one lead and one follow. If you are interested in registering for the June classes and learning the choreography but do not have a partner, please reach out to us by email at swinglondon.wcs@gmail.com and indicate your preferred role. We will do our best to put you in a partnership. Remember that WCS is gender-neutral – anybody can lead or follow!
